Participant Responsibility Notice
New Mexico 4-Wheelers guests and members will be meeting for a group activity as indicated below. Drivers are responsible for the safe operation of their own vehicles and should evaluate obstacles based on their own comfort and experience level and vehicle capability.
This is a volunteer recreational activity. Participants are responsible for their own safety, vehicle operation, and compliance with land-use rules.
This will be a combination of a run I've led to this area in the past, with a Wanderlust element added to it.
Meet at the old Family Dollar in San Isidro at 8:30 a.m. Driver meeting at 8:45. We will leave at 9:00.
We will take Hwy 4 north and will turn onto NM 290. We will meander through the village of Ponderosa and air down shortly before reaching FR 266.

We will trek out FR 266. This is a well-traveled forest road with stunning views to the north and east. We will wander to the far end of this road. The distance we can travel is dependent on Pueblo access; sometimes access is permitted, sometimes it's not. Depending on how far we can go, we may be able to see Tent Rocks.
We will be using the Santa Fe Nat'l Forest - SW Jemez Ranger District MVUM.
At some point, we will stop at the the Peralta Ridge kiosk.
There are many additional little trails heading off lots of directions - I haven't been on them before, so we will engage my Wanderlust side and choose some to explore. Peter's out there waiting for us, let's go find him!
This run will generally be in the L2 - L4 range - exploring logging roads or offshoot trails may present fun little forest challenges, but nothing too serious. Stock rigs, trucks, and overlander rigs welcome.

It's the Jemez, so trail maintenance is always likely - chainsaws and loppers welcome - please bring appropriate safety gear including closed-toed shoes, eye- and ear-protection.
The Jemez always means mud is possible, too.
Please refer to the 4x4 101 Run Preparation List for more run prep info.
Bring water, snacks, lunch, and chairs.
Fur babies and children welcome.
We will aim to be off the trail by 4:30 p.m.
Happy Trails!
